LATEST REQUEST (3/4/2010) FROM STATE CONVENTION:
The ABSC is working on two more Haiti medical teams for April 3-10 and April 24-May 1. Can you point some more M.D.'s, nurses, paramedics and EMT's our way? Trip cost is less than $1,500 total. Medicines and medical supplies are provided. Those interested can fill out the initial form at www.absc.org/haiti. Also, please check out the Haiti blog at http://abschaiti.blogspot.com/. There have been 54 professions of faith through the medical ministry in the last two days! Please be in prayer for the water purification team that will travel March 13-19. Thanks to all of you who have inquired about food distribution and construction. The Haitian government has tentatively asked for give-away food distribution to end by March 31. After that date, they want those who distribute food to do so in the context of a "food for work" program. This impacts our future plans for food distribution teams and presents some new issues, as you can imagine. We will stay abreast of this and keep you informed. The situation is very fluid and changes daily. In addition, construction teams are simply not needed at this time. The government is working on building codes, etc, and is asking its citizens not to build anything yet.
